Inputs and units
Use the units shown beside each field. Replace the sample values with your measurements and the figures on the selected product packaging.
| Parameter | Example input |
|---|---|
| Number of steps | 6 |
| Step rise | 17 cm |
| Step depth | 28 cm |
| Width | 1.2 m |
| Waste allowance | 5 % |
Formula and assumptions
VolumeWidth × Step rise / 100 × Step depth / 100 × Number of steps × (Number of steps + 1) / 2 × (1 + Waste allowance / 100)
ceil = round up; floor = round down; max = the greater value. Trigonometric angles are converted from degrees to radians.
Allowance is applied before rounding to whole packages. Whole units are rounded up; displayed decimals are rounded only for readability.
Geometry and material quantities do not determine load capacity or reinforcement design. Use dimensions specified in the project.
Concrete steps assume solid, equal rectangular steps filled to the base. This is not the volume of a thin inclined stair slab.
Worked example
Sample values are examples, not product specifications. Run the calculation again with your own measurements.
